Ozone 5

Lads,br
Just watched the tutorials from futuristic polar bears. Noticed at the end they used this Ozone 5 thing I’ve heard a lot of people talking about (usually negative).br
Before I export a demo I normally have a compresser/EQ/Limiter on my master, I have some high quality plugins for this. My question is will Ozone 5 do a better job?

A producer friend of mine uses Ozone and said it is fantastic!br
br
He does manage to create really loud and punchy tracks as well.

Ozone gets a bad rep as it can very easily get misused… people just stick the presets on and really over do things. the tools in Ozone aren’t any different than some of the separate plugin you get.br
br
I think standalone plugins sound better to me (I have UAD ) but you can still get some good results with Ozone.

At the minute my master strip = SSL com/Fabfiler pro Q/L3 Maxmiserbr
I think its enough for demos and I expect labels would master tracks properly if anything ever got signed or should you only send pro mastered work to labels?br

Mate that’s one hell of a master strip you have already!br
br
I can’t see anything getting a much better result than that line-up?

Just watched this, doesn’t really answer your question right on. but as he say in the video he treats every song different, depending on what it needs. You might not need to use all plugins all the time. Sometimes less is more. But watch it, it might give you some understanding! Cheers lonewolf, I’ll check this after work.br
br
I’ve experimented with a few different master strips but for some reason I always end up going with the one above. To me it gives the best boost without damaging the sound.br
Thing is, I’m thinkin some of the settings on the Ozone5 might add some character to certain tracks? Only one way to find out I suppose.br
br
Good to see the forum a bit more active today by the way, was a bit worried the other day that no one posted much. Feedback from other producers has been almost as valuable as the tutorials I’ve watched over the last year.

I’m thinking most of the ‘character’ in your tracks should come from the processing on the individuals elements themselves though - not added to the entire track at the end via a mastering plug-in on the master bus though?br
br
Okay you can add maybe some subtle warmth or harmonic distortion maybe, but it should always be very subtle otherwise you’re probably going to start ruining the tracks dynamics and musicality if you over-do it.
