Im trying to get a pad to pan in volume all left then all right, repeat, pretty simple I know but my searches have proved fruitless.
I thought the auto pan effect would do this but I only seem to be able to achieve a gated effect.?
does the input need to be mono or something?
hhhmmmmmmmm
Sounds like ike your trying to do a doppler effect .
click on the clip slot and enter the clips envelope .
in the drop down menu hit clips pan draw in a diagonal line from left to right / or right to left the sound should now go from left to right or right to left repetitivly.
next in the clip env again hit the volume tab in the drop down menu ,this time draw in a triangle so its even, obiously the tip of the triangle determines how loud the sound will be when it hits the middle part of the pan,
Hope this helps a bit man !
Cheers man,
Ive looked a bit more into the doppler effect and its a bit more than Im after.
Im trying to have all signal play in the left channel then sweep (pan) all to the left, and repeat.
I guess playing around with the envelope may achieve this.
What egg suggested sounds exactly what you’re after. You can also edit the audomation in your arrangement window, just select ‘panning’ and then draw in a diagonal line
yeah I tried that but im still getting signal on the left (weaker) when Id expect right only and vice versa. Very confusing. Maybe my sound card routing is incorrect?
i think for that effect i just use the ‘Around your head’ autopan preset in live that works really well…

If you mean you want to have no signal on left or right the slap and eq on the sound ,
at the bottom of the eq theres MODE options drop down box set it to L/R then the edit box will light up, from there you can edit left and right simply automate eq on the left/right side .

Great tip!
Also hindsite you may want to look into the fact that the reason you may hear it better on one side than the other is because you already have sound frequencies already in that area which is causing your panned sound to dampen. Try solo your panned sound and see if you still get the same issue.
