Percussion

Hi all

Been trying to create the percussion found in most tech house tracks, http://www.beatport.com/track/2gether-original-club-mix/3275273 has it straight away and mark knight uses it alot, not sure how to describe it but it’s the skip/ knock between the kick and snare and created a kind of rolling skip at the end of 4 bars, ive tried to create it with snares etc but just don’t sound right. Amy help would be great.

Thanks

Russ

It is just snares but they are from a loop that has been compressed quite a lot giving it a really squashed and pumped sound.

My advice would be to search for a loop with something similar going on and chop it up or edit it to get the sound you are after.

Vengeance house 1 & 2 have a lot of loops of a similar kind.

Also use the transient feature in the clip to tighten the individual hits.

Have you watched the Tech house 2011 vids? lots of stuff on loop creation and editing in there.

Hi Phil

Thanks for the reply, yeah I’ve just started watching tech house vids, finishing a prog track first though so have only had a quick scan through,

Am surprised there loops to be honest, I’ve kinda re created them with snares but it sounds really harsh, will try using some loops to get the effect

Russ

You could achieve the same with what you’ve created. Just bounce them to audio.

And as Phil said, compress heavily, tighten the transient in the loop, apply some filtering and EQ
