I’m fairly new at all of this. Where do I find Plug In Devices? Are the actual software, hardware or both? How do I get them to work and use them?

Are you talking about Ableton’s plug ins or seperate VST instruments.
If it is Ableton’s you will see a group of small circles on the left hand side of the screen below the file menu, or there abouts, click on the top circle which looks as though it has a box in it. Tada everything you need right there. INstruments and effects.
