Automation of curve points is great but it would be really useful to be able map the points to velocity as well. Both vertically (pitch & amplitude) and horizontally (time) would be amazing for some truly expressive kick patterns.
there is both a X and Y position for each node? or am i misunderstanding
Yes there is but Iām talking about being able to affect node positions through velocity as well, not just automation.
I could imagine being able to set a velocity range for each node, both on the x and y axis. So, for example, a hard (high velocity) hit would would give you a node at a higher pitch, arriving faster (earlier) in time than a soft hit. Or having velocity only affect the first amplitude nodes of a sound, just giving you a different attack based on velocity, while the overall loudness stays the same. Lots of possibilities.
