Presonus and XLR and also Electric Guitars

Hi All,

I’m about to get some new monitors and was hoping someone could answer a question I had about inputs and what not on the Presonus Firestudio Mobile please, as I’ve had a good hunt around and I’m not 100% sure of the answer.

I want a Presonus Firestudio Mobile.

I want KRK RP6’s

I can’t use XLR as the presonus doesn’t have XLR inputs.

Am I going to see a significant reduction in sound qualily going from an XLR to an 1/4 jack? Or should I just go RCA to RCA from the speakers to the presonus?

Also has anyone had any experience plugging an electric guitar into one of these? Is the sound quality decent?

Thanks all

have a check of this mate:

If you go from XLR to 1/4 you “shouldn’t” get a reduction, I run this from my DJ mixer into my soundcard and it’s worked out fine for me so far.

Looking at the presonus & the KRK it appears you can go 1/4 to 1/4, so there shouldn’t be a problem.

The KRK has the following inputs:

“XLR (3-pin), RCA & 1/4” TRS - 10k Ohm, Balanced / Unbalanced"

The presonus has the following outputs: TRS - XLR (M)

Which I think is the same as 1/4 - so you should be able to go like to like.

Best thing to do is pop into a shop and have a look at both.

Mine sounded amazing. I actually have a Firestudio Mobile for sale. Im getting rid of it because I needed more outputs. I only used it for a few days… :frowning:

Anyways, if you’re interested let me know and shoot me a PM.

Aapie, thanks for that, I’d not seen that diagram. 1/4 tp 1/4 it is! I wish I had a shop in town to demo these but there’s nothing here and the closest is 4 hours away. I’ve demo’d the KRK’s elsewhere though and they’re awesome.

Howie - thanks mate, PM away!
