why is it when i press and hold the key on my midi keyboard i get a nice long note, but when i record it only gives me one sharp stab… do i need to turn something on its freakin me out :w00t:

i was following a sidechaining tutorial, i wanted to record one long bass note an then was going to try an get to grips with sidechaining a kick like it was done on the tutorial but i cant get a long sustained note…
i am new to this so sorry if i am not very clear
