I would like to share a little story with you. Today I “accidentally” bought a pair of Dynaudio BM15 second hand. I bought them from a HiFi enthusiast who had managed to cram the Dyns and another 2 pairs of huge speakers into his tiny listening room with concrete walls and no acoustic treatment whatsoever. He even had some larger and incredibly expensive B&W speakers (each with two 12" cones) in another room! All this gear and “HiFi knowledge” and not a clue
like he was an aspiring producer? his music must sound awesome/bizare, do you know his soundcloud?
No he was not a producer. It was just funny cause he was going on and on about all his gear, while at the same time it was clear that he was more concerned about the technical specs than the sound quality produced by his massive speakers and 96 Kg valve amp. All producers (including a wannabe producer like myself) would be much more aware of the actual sound quality and how it gets affected by the surroundings. To me his setup was totally absurd Coming from a producer background it just makes no sense to put speakers 4 times the size of the Dynaudios in such a tiny space with concrete walls.
