I like to work with old drum samples from machines like the Oberheim DMX, Yamaha RY30, etc. A lot of the kick drum samples tend to sound a bit weak though, so I figured I could take the click from them, open it in Kick and create the sub that I want, combining a vintage overall sound with a strong, modern sub.br
I was just wondering if you’d recommend filtering out the sub of the click before I open it in Kick or not, as I have noticed that it can be tricky to get the two subs to match up - especially if I’m tuning the Kick sub to the key of the track I’m working on. Or is there another method I can use to get the two to sit well together (I know about length adjustments already)?
I normally filter below 300 and edit the kick so it just have the first 50-100ms (or however long the “click” is.br

something ive been doing recently to get a gated 80s style kick is to put the click through a gatted reverb too.
Thanks, that worked really well. Will try the gated click trick too!
