Question on silence before drop

I’m trying to modify the drop with a couple of seconds (max) silence before the drop. But I can’t quite make it sound right however I do it.
Is it normal to lose 2 secs of the music, or simply delay the drop by 2 secs?

Hi @rickag you would normally have one or two beats of dropping out like the drums, bass, pads etc etc, you can even do it over a bar. Just experiment dropping different parts out, like cut out everything, or drums and bass, or just kick and music elements and have in perc still going say. No fast and hard rules, but you wouldn’t delay the drop by 2 beats or even a bar in most cases, but again that can be done.
