Are there any topics you want us to discus or any questions about techniques etc.
We are Live at 8pm GMT
I’d quite like a bit on mixdown/mastering.
I’ve been using the pink noise test and the width trick but I’m still struggling a bit with chopping out the frequencies and knowing when to have or not have width in my sounds. They still seem a bit like they are just on top of each other and not as clear as I would like.
Here’s an example:
SoundCloud - Hear the world’s sounds
Also I’d quite like to know how to make crashy FX type noises in a synth. Loads of tracks have them in on the 16th beat, but I never really like the presets that come with synths for this, do most producers use FX from a synth or make them using drum sounds with FX on top?
Thanks
Alan
ooh a live show. Is it like the ones on those late night channels?
I really do need to re-subscribe. You guys have been doing some fantastic work this year. I’d love to come to the live event in Belfast but can’t make it this time.
Hah, for a moment ‘live’ above was ‘love’. Wishful thinking no doubt.

Did you do this in Ableton? are you using many 3rd party plugins?
I used ableton.
I think the only 3rd party stuff was Aether and Sylenth, possibly sausage fattener as well.
Actually I might have used Lounge Lizard for one of the rhodes stabs. Although that could be swapped for any EP style sound I’d have thought.
Thinking back though, I think I bounced the stabs down to audio anyway, would that matter, would you be able to take a look at it?
Yeah cool… we will give it a try.
do a collect all and Save and yousendit to phil@sonicacademy.com
Freeze any tracks that have any other plugins… I have Aether Sylenth Sausage fatener.
That’s great thanks, I’ll get it over to you this evening when I get in from work.
How can i see the show of tonight?
Hi Phil,
I am sending this to you at the minute, it says it will take 18 mins, hopefully it will work!
Thanks
Alan
We should use Ozone during the mix or after redering all track?
If you have the CPU no reason not to use it in the same project.
Travelling for work as usual. Can’t tune in sadly as I only have my iPad and it’s a Flash player
Do you guys record the session and post it later?
I would have enjoyed the show, except the time was incorrectly published as 8pm when infact it started at 8pm British Summer Time.
So I only got the last 20 minutes.
Please can you be careful to put the correct times.
Thanks
