i’ve just seen on another website that technics are to stop making 1200/1210’s as of feb 2010 its the end of a era i for one will saddened to see them go even though i dont dj anymore and got rid of mine years ago to make way for cdjs they’ve been such a massive part of club culture i think its a real shame but times change and you have to move with them or get left behind but i cant help but feel sad and very nostalgic…
i’ve kept hold of my Vestax, My other sets of technics went a few years back but still its sad to see them moving on mainly because they mad such a poor job on their cd decks lol
technics have been a big part of anyone’s life if you have ever played in a club
I’ve still got my babies, even though i haven’t played on them in years. They take up too much room in the new studio and i was considering getting rid of them, probs defo keep hold of them now as they’ll gain in value now

there cd decks are dire i tried them once and never again lol
just spoke to a mate and he reckons that its a internet rumour and that there only stopping making upto mk 5’s and are bringing out a super improved mk 6 version which will be totally redesigned from the inside out so looks like they wont be gone forever lol
Very sad indeed, almost as sad as the day I sold my 1210s.
They really did cut the men from the boys when it came to djing. Wish I could say the same for todays methods.
G-hunter that could make for a good thread lol
Please, for the love of god… PLEASE no more CD vs Vinyl debates.
lol
didn’t mean in the cd vs vinyl argument because that’s just stupid, more along the lines of what exactly makes each good
CD vs Vinyl - CD’s can be used as mirrors but Vinyl can have boiling water poured over them to turn them into wobbly ashtrays. For that reason alone Vinyl is king.
Yeah sorry about that, I dare say we are well and truly past that debate!
R.I.p 1210s. Will there be ltd edition before they hang up there platters?
UPDATE!!!
TECHNICS AINT DEAD!!!
Updated: Sources for statements from Panasonic appear to be unconfirmed and/or conflicting. inthemix is where I had read this story; some CDM readers are describing these as unsubstantiated rumors.
It’s certainly possible that this isn’t the common “wild Internet rumors” phenomenon, but the equally common “large global company representatives aren’t on the same page” phenomenon.
The inthemix story, however, should be regarded as incorrect. As reported in the Australian cnet, the Panasonic Australia source has denied saying quotes attributed to him. There’s perhaps a more interesting (if not at all surprising) story here, which is that analog turntable demand is sagging — but apparently that will not result in the immediate end to 1200 sales.
