just heard yesterday when i was lstining to L.E.D Let there be light by rank 1 that he does a really cool effect into the lead… its not a big secret or anytin i just thought id tel people so they might use it in their tracks because i put it in mine yesterday! if you record your lead into audio and reverse it, then automate the volume and put it just before the break of your lead! works well for a fill too

Another cool effect (sounds like what might be going on here too) is to use reversed reverb.
Reverse your audio, send it to a reverb bus/aux, record that bus then reverse the resulting audio.
It make it sound like a spooky drifting in version of the original.
