You can either sample things yourself and then drop the samples into simpler, or you can just use one of the many resources available on the web as far as sample cd’s and downloads. Another thing that you can do to is just listen to a song that you like the bass in, sample that bass, and then drop it into simpler, voila, you have exactly what you were looking for. Keep in mind though that when doing this, you’ll want to pick a part of the bassline that seems to have the least fx on it. That way you can get the true sound that they are using and effect it in any fashion that you like. Essentially creating your own “sound” at this point. Hope this helps!

Its also important to try and know what key your sample is in. This way you can detune or tune it to properly fit the chromatic scale you are workin with…

Reason 4.0 has this totally awesome addon pack called electric bass, where they’ve sampled about 6 top quality basses and even put in samples of fret noise, ghost notes and slides. It’s really quite awesome but I’ve since moved on to Ableton - it can be rewired though.
MATE TO GET GOOD BASS SAMPLES YOU EITHER MAKE THEM USING YOUR BASSIC TONES LIKE A SINE ,PITCH IT DOWN ,DOUBLE IT UP DETUNE ONE,AND YOU HAVE A BANGING B LINE, OR BUY SOME DECENT SAMPLES FROM TIME AND SPACE OR LOOPMASTERS
