hi 
nearly finished working my through your thoroughly excellent reason beginner’s tutorials, but hit a slight snag automating the volume levels of drums and vocals in module 9 as there seems to be no line tool available in the version 4 of Reason I’m using (version 3 is used in the tutorials, with a dedicated line tool icon on the toolbar, notably absent from version 4 in which i can I can only see a draw tool). i can get a straight line after a bit of messin about by using the draw tool and selecting and then deleting any points of deviation between the start and finish value of the automation, but this seems a bit long-winded and i’m thinkin’ there must be an easier way than this. i’ve tried various combinations of ctrl, alt and shift as i click and drag the automation line but none of these seem to do the trick. probably something very simple, but can any of you lovely headz offer advice? does the draw tool somehow toggle into a line tool in Reason 4 perhaps? can’t see why they would have done away with it completely in version 4, doesn’t make much sense!

hey skinzi propellerheads replaced the old automation with vector …
this works like the line tool so if you hit record move the parameter you want to automate and then go into edit page youll see the automation lane if you click into that then just move the little dots around that will give you your automation c for copy v for paste .
also if you wanna edit velocity then select the velocity from the  bottom of the screen then select the pencil tool and ctrl and hold down left click on ur mouse that gives you a little line tool but only for velocity .

nice one egg, again :-))) i’ll have a little tweak around with that again tonight. strikes me it would’ve been easier just to keep the line tool in version 4 though, but there you go…
