Recording / resampling levels

Hi, br
br
I resample drums and record from my virus via the usb cable. I keep my levels quite low. Recently I tried bouncing down track stems to cubase and they were quiet going in.br
br
Some channels are peaking at -24.br
br
If I were to record “hotter” (not distorting) so the tracks go into cubase at a higher level and turn down via the fader channels to ensure the main output is not going into the red, would there be any benefit?

what bit rate are the recorded at? 24bit you shouldnt notice much differnce

all my tracks I’m finishing off are in 16 bit…br
br
If I were recording in 24 bit, in the situation where I’m recording drums from maschine or synth from the virus - would there be a benefit to recording at higher levels to tame at later stages?

yeah absolutely… you should record @ 32bit… it gives you a ton of headroom to play with when mixing and bouncing etc. then you can dither down to 16bit if you are going to CD or keep it 32 or 24 bit if making wavs/mp3s.

Any benefit to recording at 96 khz if drum samples are at 44?
