Remix/Bootlegs and acapellas

Hi. If i want to make a Houseremix of, lets say Sade “Smooth Operator” or if i have a acapella, how do i mix it in key with my productions? is there a good way to do it in ableton? it sounds really bad when the acapellas is so fast…

And do some of you have a good way of putting housebeats on a tracks, lets say a housebeat over eurytmics “here comes the rain again”? is there a smart way to make is sound smooth? hope you know what i mean… my english is not so good.

Have a great weekend. B

You can warp and detune your sample to your liking in the sample clip editor that appears when you load the sample. If you look at the controls to the left you’ll see a knob that allows you to change the pitch of your sample. Look at the tutorials and warping tracks in the DJ section and that will explain in detail how to stretch the audio to be the right speed and “fit” your mix. Hope this helps. Also, I don’t know where you live, but here in the US you have 3 seconds of a copyright that you can use before you are breaking the law. Which means if you use that Eurythmics sample, you’ll be able to get the phrase “here comes the” without “rain”(which would take that three seconds) before your allotted “free” time is up. If you plan on ever selling the track you will need to get permission from the actual artists that you used the samples from. Which means that they are going to want a cut of your profits. Samples are great, but use copyritten stuff lightly. As I said, this is here in the US, the laws may be different where your at. With that being said, you might be legal to do a long sample in your country, but it will only be able to be sold where its “legal” kind of like drugs… Hope this helps!!!
