Hi,
At the moment i’m doing some remixing for some heavy metal bands. I’m doing it in a D&B style in the most part because I have heard that work before & I think the high energy and pace mixes well.
I was wondering if any of the good folks here at Sonic Academy had any tips for taming less than perfect performances? On the original finished tracks the bands gel really well together but once you strip it back to the individual untreated tracks there are obvious flaws in timing and the odd fluffed note.
Also some of the tracks are up near or over 200 BPM I know Ableton is able to warp tracks so that they can be sync’d up to other materials added. Is it just a case of once warped setting the global tempo down a bit to make the tracks a more D&B friendly tempo?
Last thing I wanted to ask about was tips on retaining some of the feel and energy of the originals in the remixed work?
If anyone could throw me a few pointers, that would be great.
Cheers
