Just started my first forray into remixing a track so this might sound a bit silly but is it essential to have all the different elements of the track isolated eg. in the remixing tutorial where all the layers are separated so it’s easy to juggle around with them? br
br
Otherwise, is it possible to take a full audio track and manipulate it yourself ie. try and cancel out the elements you don’t want using eq or panning etc? Needless to say this would take a hell of a lot longer but I’d like to know what the conventional/most efficient way is? br
br
Cheers!br

Thats not really a remix then more of a mash up.br
br
Remixes tend to have the parts supplied from the record label.br
br
There are lots of sites doing remix competitions where you get the stems… even just having different parts can be good for learning how to do it.
For remixing you use one up to all parts that came with the remix package. It’s all up to you what you do with them. Your interpretation on the track. You put something of you in it.br
br
While an edit is the original track with some modifications. You leave parts out, or duplicate parts. Change the arrangement. Or add some other elements, like percussion or other sample.br
br
A mashup consists out, at least, 2 or more different tracks combined that work great with eachother. Quite often you see an instrumental layered with an acappela of another track. For good examples you should check on up the Cut Up Boys.br

that’s cleared it up all right, thanks lads. so there’s no way of buying packs for specific tracks you might want to remix?
Most are free, but on ocassion Beatport has them as well. Just google on “remix”, “Packs”, “stems”
Great, cheers!
