Any advice on how to get the hyper compressed sucking effect like the one heard on this song? I know it has to do with a lot of compression/ducking but that’s about it. I’ve tried grouping everything and then side chaining it to the drums but that still doesn’t really give the desired effect. You can hear similar stuff going on in lot of Flying Lotus’ music as well.
Any ideas?
What you could try (if you’re in ableton) is putting on a gate and setting the release time relatively low. Then sidechain the gate to your kickdrum and press the “flip” knob. I use that for Flying Lotus/Baths style tracks.
