RevolVerb, Orange Vocoder, and that Compressor for Mac

I can’t help but notice that Phil is a Windows guy, shame on you Phil! With that being said, those plugs that you use are awesome and useful, but only come in the Windows flavor. Being that RevolVerb is a convolution impluse based reverb, it’s almost impossible to duplicate with settings using the reverb provided by Ableton. I was hoping that you could now, and in the future always have a suggestion for a similar product on the OSX platform, or explain the procedure for actually emulating these devices within Ableton’s plugs. I know that version 8 will address most of these issues, but I’m looking for a right here right now approach. Maybe this is getting a bit advanced, but I think that myself as well as many others would find this information really useful!

Thanks!

Raymond

I guess what would be really helpful now that I think about it is a tut on proper use and setup of effects/filters.

Im actually a mac guy!!

I just use PC for tutorials as 78% of our users are PC

Thats the Mac version of revolverb its been mentioned a few times on the forums and in a few tutorials.

Thanks Phil!!! You’re the absolute best! Do you have any suggestions for the other two plugs? I know that you get a ton of high end plugs to test out and use at Sonic Academy as well as free stuff… You knowledge of these things is extremely valuable, and would love some input on them. I think that most would agree that spending good money to get quality stuff isn’t an issue. Especially if you follow the mantra that you must have the correct tools to do the job. With that being said, you definitely know better than anyone what works and doesn’t. I know a lot is left to personal preference of course, but this is a learning experience for everyone. Also, which of these plugs you would spend your money on if you had to purchase them outright. I find it hard to swallow $1200 for the waves package, but know that there are other quality tools out there at a fraction of the cost. It’s been my experience that you can’t get by on just free plugs if you want to make quality music, some may disagree… Thanks in advance!

Raymond

the only thing i think is totaly essential is a good synth.

One of below is all you need.

Slyenth1, Massive, Arturia Moog ModularV, Disco Discovery DSP.

The more the merrier but having one you know inside out is essential.

BBE Sonic Maximizer I use a lot.

Orange vocoder is great but with abletons new one unless your a cubase user theres no need.

A good Sample Collection is extremely important Ive built up around 30-40Gb of Samples from Sample CDs, Records, Acapellas, Movie Quotes and spoken word.

some of th waves bundles are actually pretty reasonable.
