Rewiring logic studio 8 to ableton live 8

can you please do a video on rewiring logic to ableton and what are the advantages to this?..i have both logic studio 8 and ableton live 8 i just feel is alot faster to work in ableton then logic but from what i here your tracks will sound better in logic is this true?

Interesting.

I’ve also heard a lot of people praise the quality of Logic (soundwise) however the Logic tutorials here seem to suggest otherwise. To me at least I hear equality.

I really can’t see any advantages Logic has over Live, if anything Logic looks clumsy to me. Things I take for granted in Live seem to be a right hassle in Logic s

So workflow wise I’d say that Ableton has the inside track.

Maybe Logic owners here can clarify exactly what Logic can do that is better than Live because from where I am standing it seems Logic has only one thing going for it and that would be it runs on a Mac which is inherently much more stable than a PC. I have a dedicated DAW setup that has been highly optimised (no Internet etc) and its rock solid unless I run unstable plugs.

I sometimes wonder if Logic has the placebo factor going for it and dare I say the snob factor.?

to my ear’s logic has a nicer sound to the finished bounced audio just slightly crisper and with out any doubt logic’s built in effects and synths are some of the best i’ve used, lives being some of the worst.

but for day to day work live is so much less a head ache compared to logic.

things like eq compression and mixing i find much quicker and easier to get good results with logic.

live i find easier for moments of inspiration, getting basic arrangements using impulse for drums.

all in all though i think if you are going to be using 3rd party plug-ins it really doesn’t matter what daw you are using, they theoretically all do the same thing (even if it in a different way)

Thanks guys now that that is clear i will just keep pumping out the tunes on ableton;)

Logic’s effects are quite a bit better than Live’s, and I find the mixer layout and Arrange page much more intuitive than Live. Things like Drum Racks and Groups feel like weird workarounds to Logic’s busses and multichannel instruments. There’s also a much better integrated EQ and spectrum analyzer (Ableton’s is kind of a joke). Logic also does have that Apple-polish about it.

I don’t think you can rewire Logic into Live… pretty sure it has to only be the other way around. Lots of people work on Ableton and rewire it to Logic to bounce down.

There are pros and cons to both, but after working exclusively in either for several months, I’ve settled on Logic. Mixing and Arranging is that much more important to me, and when you get used to it, you don’t miss Session View all that much. I do miss Clip Envelopes and Sampler, but have found easily workarounds in Logic.
