Rising "breathing" vocal effect

Hey guys,

I was about to post this as a question or tut request, but after a little experimentation I got it on my own, and I thought for those who might want to know, I’d share it with you.

I’m talking about this vocal effect:

It comes in at about :23; it sounds a bit like the singer is breathing in.

This is used super often, and is kind of elusive.

Here’s how to do it:

Take the vocal, preferably an acapella or at least with little going on in the background, and apply heavy reverb. The delay time should be at least around 4-5 seconds, the dry wet set to about 30-70, and the “Diffuse” and “reflect” knobs cranked to a little over 2/3 db.

All you have to do then is create a second audio track that pulls audio from the first, render the audio in, cut out the actual speaking, and reverse the clip. Then just turn off the reverb on your first channel and arrange as needed.

Don’t flame if you guys already knew this, just thought I would share for anyone who’s wondering.

thanks for sharing , ill give it a try later today . Great tip!~

Dude, you rock! I can’t believe how simple that was and how well it works.

I’m so glad I found this site

lol there’s a tutorial for it on here

Is there really? :stuck_out_tongue:

Could you link it, I couldn’t find it.

Just search in the videos section for “reverse reverb” I’m pretty sure it’s an earlier tech tip.

Still nice to see people posting little tips here tho…

Keep em coming.

This is still kinda different as the reverse reverb effect tho as this trick i think heavy compression is used.
