I was wondering if Sonic Academy puts any kind of copyright on their melodies they give for download? For example, If I, hypothetically speaking, were to take the melody from their dutch house tutorial and make a completely different song with that melody and release it on beatport, would I get sued for copyright infringement or are all the melodies free game? Keep in mind that my song is nothing close to their final song in their tutorial. Any info would be helpful.

All the melodies in the tutorials are owned by sonic academy and cant be used in your own productions… this is to avoid any difficulties that could arise from 2 different people using them in different tracks signed to 2 different labels.
We have no problem you using them in demos etc… but you cant sign them to a label or publisher.
All the sounds, samples and techniques can of course be used in any way you want other than 3rd party tutorials and sample librarys etc.
