If you arent aware this is something that affects everyone, and could be massive in shaping the future of pretty much everything. Give it a read, im against piracy of music but i just dont feel this is the right way to go, its way too broad…
Yeah been following this for a while - unfortunately if US does go through with this Europe will follow - however there will always be a work around it
I dont think people understand how bad this could be i mean the internet could be crippled. It could potentially be the end of Youtube, Facebook and all upload sites…
Its not like your sisters are gonna be gang raped or you’ll have to sell a kidney to buy a pint of milk… or one of your parents gets cancer.
Perspective. Theres a lot worse that could happen than videos on YT being affected or “piracy” having to mutate into another form.
Heavens forbid that people actually start talking to eachother again than using facebook. Might be a 2nd chance to jettison all those cnuts that you managed to shake, but are now back on your tail
[quote]ICN (19/12/2011)[hr]But lets be honest here… its only the net.

Well, “just the 'net” is a bit misleading. Everything is done on the Internet now. This could have a serious effect on small businesses trying to compete with larger firms online. All they have to do is get their team of lawyers to convince a judge that some small-time website is vaguely infringing on some sort of copyright.

Let’s make one thing clear from the get-go: despite all the talk about this bill being directed only toward “rogue” foreign sites, there is no question that it targets US companies as well. The bill sets up a system to punish sites allegedly “dedicated to the theft of US property.” How do you get that label? Doesn’t take much: Some portion of your site (even a single page) must
be directed toward the US, and either
allegedly “engage in, enable or facilitate” infringement or
allegedly be taking or have taken steps to “avoid confirming a high probability” of infringement.
If an IP rightsholder (vaguely defined – could be Justin Bieber worried about his publicity rights) thinks you meet the criteria and that it is in some way harmed, it can send a notice claiming as much to the payment processors (Visa, Mastercard, Paypal etc.) and ad services you rely on.
Never mind what happens to pornography, how will people listen to amateur music when Soundcloud and Youtube are shut down, and all torrent activity is blocked?
Yeah its true, ICN you dont realise how potentially world altering this could be, its all well and dandy saying oooh its just the world wide web not like my sister is getting raped or throwing the good ole now people will have to meet each other in real life again and not through facebook but this thing has sooooooo many things attached to it that it will affect you wether you like it or not.
