SA Tutor or experienced individual Request!

I was wondering if someone could look at this "French House in Cubase" tutorial project I am recreating in Ableton and critique my progress.

I'm using a ****ty pair of headphones (DSP 500s) and no speaker monitors as of now (terrible right?!) and I can't seem to get everything sounds right. A lot of compression is used and for some reason (I'm guessing due to my stellar monitoring set-up) I can't seem to really tell when I'm using compression successfully.

I also have a problem getting my mix to sound really "tight" as it seems like cut offs of different instruements "bleed" into eachother. I'd love another opinion! I'm sure it shouldn't take more than a 10 minute listen from experience ears to clean this up!

I've zipped up the files and they can be accessed below:

***Disclaimer*** This project is in LIVE. I am using the French House in Cubase Tutorial and file resources to created this in Ableton Live.

unfortunately brotha, i dont know who would look at it. even so, i dont know if i would trust anyone on here. you just dont know them for adam, ya know? most on here produce with live as well. i have never touched Cubase, so im out. but if you want a critique, you need to just bounce to an mp3 and post that up. people wont most likely open a project file unless they are gonna work on it.

Mate… there are a few people on here with Cubase.

I’m sure someone will have a look at it for ya

I guess I should rephrase by saying I am using Live but the tutorial is the “French House - Cubase”.

In a perfect world, one of the Sonic Academy guys would have a listen, tweak a few things here and there and give me insight what I’ve done so far.

Nowing that might hopefully get a few more people to help me out

You’re recreating the project in Ableton. Is the zip file an Ableton project?

Yeah the zip file contains the ableton project

So its an Ableton project file? I’m confused.

bounce it down and stick it up in soundcloud - this will get people listening to it!

Dude they’re right you need to post an mp3!

I tried to open the project but you haven’t included some of the audio files you’re using in the project folder and you’ve used third party plugins which i don’t have. Either that or you could freeze each track and it would create an audio file for each then it would play!!!

I’d have posted an mp3 Link for you!

thanks for all the feedback. I plan on finishing the track and when I do, ill post it to get feedback.

Although what end result sounds like is what ultimately matter, however since the tutorial is using Cubase, my main objective was to get feedback on overall workflow and HOW the track was arranged using Ableton.

The reason for this is because of so much compression that’s used, I wanted to see if how I had everything set up looked good as I’m trying to focus on my workflow and being more efficient and faster in my production sessions. If that makes more sense, then let me know your feedback. Ill post the final version within the next couple of days
