SA videos

Its good to hear the news about the new site from SA - much appreciated. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the new site and have high expectations from all I’ve heard. Thanks for the open and quick communication!

In regards wanting more value for the money - I think speaking up about the lack of content over the last few months is not an unjustified comment to make. When I joined, the site was producing at least one tutorial per month, and showed no indications of slowing down. I certainly don’t regret joining, but was becoming a little concerned with the apparent lack of new content that I was finding useful. Now we have an official due date for the new content, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s to come. I’m due my renewal in a few months, and hope to continue my subscription based on what appears.

where can i see this?

to me the experience has been one of frustration. For example as an ableton user the last 4 months of my subscription have been totally wiped out with no new material whatsoever (apart from a few tech tips) and unlike others here who seem to have unlimited cash my funds are currently limited so obviously its hard to sit back without hitting out or at least expressing an opinion. The nu-disco tut was the last straw for me when it didn’t materialise.

nail on the head.

i just hope we get some content before the ‘new site’ or that will be a drum rack tip in 5 months. which would also be time for a refund.

hello people

it’s kev here - md (i.e. the least talented person) of all the sonic academy staff members for those of you who don’t know me

just a quick heads up about where we are with things… we’ve had a mad few months here at SA trying to get ourselves in a position for 2010 which we think will keep most (but not all - “some of the people all of the time…” etc etc ) of you guys very happy…

we launched SA.com in 2008 and have been overwhelmed by the response we received to the website. we are a small bunch of guys and girls who are passionate about music and technology and have always tried to offer the highest quality tutorials at the best value of any site on the web.

like most small businesses, running sonic academy in the last 12 months has been very challenging and it’s been difficult for us to get the balance right between keeping the content coming and putting everything in place to allow us to scale things up properly in 2010 - and i’m sorry if that has disappointed any of you.

i’d also like to personally apologise for the lack of an up to date release schedule which will be posted on the website this week and will be kept up to date from now on.

we are a business and have had some major commercial considerations to work through in the last couple of months and have had to plan rigorously to ensure we satisfy all of our customers (not just ableton users!) in 2010 and beyond.

in the last 12 months problems with functionality and useability of the site have become big issues and we have been working hard on getting those sorted in the last few months…

our website will be relaunched at the end of january 2010 (this deadline has never been put back), nor will it be. the new site will be more user friendly and will allow continued access to some of the best value music tech training on the web.

we’ve also had to find new office space and are currently about to move into a new studio facility in belfast which will allow us to ramp up our production significantly in coming months.

for (ableton) users to criticise us for not putting out any new (ableton) content in the last few months is not fair, as we have never, ever said we were solely an ableton tutorial site and the cubase content we have released in the last few months has been lapped up by the small number of non-vocal cubase users who contribute to the forums.

we are doing this for the right reasons and we want to be open and honest with you guys. we are very aware that ultimately whether or not you subscribe to our site, is the difference between us having a business or not. so please bear with us and enjoy what we have to offer very soon!

you are always free of course to let your fingers do the talking and not re-subscribe, or not subscribe in the first place. we hope that you don’t do this, but you are free to do so if you wish.

anyone who feels they are not getting value for money or wants a refund, or just wants to give us some feedback can email me directly on kevin@sonicacademy.com.

we have worked very hard over the last few months to do all of the ground work and we think we have made all of the right decisions to make sonic academy a far better experience with a far better range of content for all of our users in 2010 and beyond.

regards

kevin
