SA videos

hi guys thinking about signing up to SA but wondered bout the videos… can they be downloaded to my pc or do i have to come online and stream them each time i want to watch them? ive got a pay as you go net service so itd cost me quite abit to keep watching the vids…

thanks!!

you have to stream at lo-fi every time. i have a 24" screen (like a lot of people these days) but it seems like the videos are made on a laptop and uploaded at lo resolutions - which looks gash to me and difficult to make out some of the settings

when i joined up there was a schedule for august that appeared to have something worthy of watching every week. ive been dissapointed since then. we are still waiting for the december nu disco release that was due in august and its now january.

i would wait until they launch the new website before you part with the cash, its been put back twice from what ive seen so far, with only the odd promise of it ‘looking great’ to keep our hopes up.

if the 400 pixel preview image is anything to go by, it was done in notepad and frontpage so dont hold your breath - plus, a new website should not be the reason for the tutorials to stop

sorry i had a rant, but im pretty bored with coming back every day to find out nothing has changed - and i must add, to add interviews as content was a piss take.

ok thanks for the honesty. ill wait then. i cant keep streaming the vids anyway. bit gutted tbh. wanted to see these vids :frowning:

Hey peeps,in the year or so that this site has been up and running proper, im sure s.a have taken onboard all the frustrations of what can (for me )be described as teething problems- and im positive that the release schedule and all other problems that we all have will have been looked at and will be resolved ,they’re working real hard at the moment to make this even better than it allready is

If your new and want to sign up, there are way more than enough videos/knowledge to get your productions sounding proffessional and keep you busy

Sign up it’d be worth at very least one year’s subscription:)

sorry to say this, but they cant still be having teething problems after 5 pages of tutorials. i reckon they know exactly what they are doing by now.

i had to wait a couple of days for someone to even look at the ‘subscriber support’ forum the other week for a reply, and it wasnt even from someone at sonic academy - so much for subscriber support!

im starting to wonder if they are doing anything at all with my hard earned.

I get ya , all im saying is that for me this site has been worth the subscription! and with a whole new made over site, im sure  the problems that people have will be resolved !

im sure it’ll be worth the wait dude!

i admire your optimism egg

If SA don’t sort this new website out soon there is no way I’m renewing my subscription. The existing vids are OK, but are no longer much better than a wealth of material being produced for free elsewhere on the net. The best thing about SA is the forums, which are free. I come on every day and usually find something useful or interesting to read.

Sorry about the tirade, but hey. I hope I’m proved wrong when the new website arrives!

like egg said the content that is already availible on SA is worth every penny of a years subscription

i’ve got to agree with everyone the lack of video’s has been disapointing lately i do think the ade interviews were good but not that good that they were instead of new tutorials and if things dont change in the new year once the new website has been up and running a while i might think twice about renewing myself

I’ve learnt so much more since joining this site, the amount of vids is worth the subscription.

Hold tight guys and see what videos are released with the new site

jpgetty2win,

if you subscribed I doubt you’d be disappointed with the actual content however as you’ve stated your bandwidth is limited and forever referencing the material here is going to eat your bandwidth alive In that regard I think SA have dropped the ball. There’s no point whatsoever in penalising subscribers by not allowing the various courses to be downloaded after they’ve shelled out their cash.

I think SA really have to rethink that reasoning behind that decision.

As for the new site as pretty as its probably going to be there was nothing wrong with the old one that 20 minutes in frontpage couldn’t have resolved. imo of course.

Post-subscribing … to me the experience has been one of frustration. For example as an ableton user the last 4 months of my subscription have been totally wiped out with no new material whatsoever (apart from a few tech tips) and unlike others here who seem to have unlimited cash my funds are currently limited so obviously its hard to sit back without hitting out or at least expressing an opinion. The nu-disco tut was the last straw for me when it didn’t materialise.

Anyway every cloud has a silver lining as they say for example instead of logging on here like a junkie for my next fix  that never seems to come I’ve actually got around to putting some of the tricks i’ve learnt from SA into practice.

And do you know what I’ve finally realised SA has taught me one hell of a lot and for that I am truly grateful.

hi guys,

we are all just back from christmas holidays and are back to working on more video content!

we will be putting up the new release schedule for january onwards soon as december was the year end.

just to let you know however that the nu disco tutorial wasn’t due in august - the poll for this was held in august but this was just to gauge what the users wanted for the next how to sound like after the current ones that were on our schedule - which included, synthesis, drum and bass, tech trance and cubase 5.

we are currently filming a course this week. and our new site is due to be launching at the end of this month!

we have plenty in our schedule for 2010, and we hope you will all enjoy it!

and just to put your mind at ease, i am working on the nu disco tutorial at present and this will be available as soon as possible!

thanks for your patience guys

hey guys just keep the faith, i’m sure that a large percentage of people will be really happy with the new site and new content in 2010 obviously SA can do their best.

“you can please some people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you’ll never please all people all of the time”

of course if you’re really not happy there’s always.

http://www.pointblanklondon.com/ i think their current course costs around the same price as 20 years worth of SA subscription

and also http://www.macprovideo.com/ if you like to sleep while you learn :doze:

sorry for posting links to other site SA but i really think that people need to see for themselves what else is out there to understand what they are getting here at sonic academy.

Jon,

Your links are too extreme to be useful in terms of cost comparison.

If you’d linked to

http://www.cosm.co.nz

who has a wealth of down loadable hq videos for less than £7 (worth every penny) you’d be talking turkey

You get what you pay for to be honest. He’s good, but it’s not to the standard that SA deliver.

Even faderpro.com can’t match SA value for money and diversity or tutorials.

I think that SA has more bang for the buck then any site out there…Even Tom Cosm’s website. There will be a wealth of new content soon I’m sure, as well as SA is preparing content from other contributors.

i hope there will finally be a techno tutorial on the new schedule bry

no one can argue that the quality of the content so far is the best around and how much i’ve learnt so far is priceless thank you SA

i’m looking forward to the new site and seeing what tutorials the new year brings …

I think that the problem here is that people seem to think they should be getting more for the money when in fact I think that we get amazingly large ammounts for the money. This site is the most regularly updated, detailed and cheapest site out there. Bang for buck is incredible I think.

I’m a fan of Tom Cosm, he’s excellent at what he does and is a true believer in giving stuff out for free which I respect… but SA is a business and for the price they charge they’re outstanding value.

If you signed up you’d get access to dozens of tutorials that would keep you buys for months no doubt.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate the openness within our forum and we are very much taking all comments and suggestions on board. We can understand that there may be some frustration with the recent lack of new content. I can promise you though that the guys have been working hard in the studio recording new content all week.

We’re also getting closer and closer to finishing the new site and having that up to scratch for you. In creating the new site we’ve been very attentive to all of the input our members have put forward to us. I’ve attached a screenshot from the homepage of the new site. As Kev mentioned above, the whole structure and underlying foundations of the site have been changed as well as the aesthetics. Please feel free to share any thoughts on it here. We hope you’ll be impressed.

Thanks for your patience guys. We really think this lull will pay off when you see what we have in store for you in 2010. There’ll be lots more content coming very soon. We’ll share the release schedule with you asap.

Cheers,

Louise
