quick question if i was to put a sampled one shot into kontakt and i know that one shot is say is in note of g. would kontakt put the sample across the keys in the correct order or would it put the sample on middle c and then go up the keys by one semi tone at a time? does that make sense?
Depends on how you are importing the sample. The simplest way being dragging and dropping the sample from the browser into an empty rack display, in which case kontact will use c3 by default, however if you go into the instrument edit screen and click on mapping editor there is an option to change the root key.
yeah cheers thats great! one more question, if i dont know the key of the one shot is there away for kontakt to tell me so?
Try Voxengo Span [url]Free Spectrum Analyzer Plugin, FFT, Real-Time [VST, AU, AAX] - SPAN - Voxengo
Its free.
Stick it on your master.
Solo your sound & hover your cusor over the peaks. It’ll tell you the Freq & musical note of that particular spot on the spectrum.
You should be able to make an attempt of what note it is - unless its some mental busy sound.
If all else fails… I usually will have a sine sound on another synth… and hit notes until I’m in the ballpark. Sometimes pitching the sound you are trying to work with, up a bit… makes it easier to compare it to when playing next to a sine synth
