Hey Sonic Academy Lot,
I was wondering if it would be possible to get some sort of schedule or update on the current videos in production, and what’s about ready to come out. I think this would help all of us greatly as we all anticipate different types of music and tutorials forthcoming. I like coming to this site often, but find myself checking back to no changes unnecessarily a lot (i.e. to find out there’s some silly sample cd that’s been released on an artist I could care less about, and nothing new). I feel that this site has a ton of content on prog/electro house as well as trance, but has yet to fully cover fundamental music like techno, or even just house. Tapping into these basic genres would help all of us as they are the modern roots to dance music. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Justice and Deadmau5 and the likes, but the music is commercial and overplayed all over the world. I don’t want to “sound like” that, I want to sound different, but understand how they got their sounds. I guess what I’m really getting at here is when the tutorials seem to be geared towards a genre like electro house. It’s extremely hard to take anything from it if your not trying to produce that kind of music. Whereas if the tutorial was on techno or house. I could take those principals and apply them to ALL DANCE MUSIC. Does this make sense? Thanks for everything thus far!
Raymond
Its quite hard to do more generic house or techno tutorials as they cover such a wide variety of sounds.
eg.
the kick in a minimal techno tune compared to “regular” techno is completely different. but most of the same ideas are the same.
Im currently doing a track for Tronic Christian Smiths label which im using a ot of the same sounds and ideas i used in the Swedish house mafia tutorial.
Its much easier for me to take artist names and links to youtube to get an ideas for new tutorials… I monitor a lot what people are into here and try to cover as many genres as possible…
Next one up is How to sound like Faithless - Music Matters, Mark Knight mix. just editing this at the mo. Its got stuff about basic synth programing which has been requested a few times…
Then ill do one on the track im doing for Tronic - think Joris vorn, smith/selway etc.
Thanks Phil!
I think the Mark Knight one with hit the nail on the head with what I’m talking about. I’m looking forward to it!

Sounds good Phil
