TheAnt (11/05/2011)
Traktor had a time based piracy check. A couple of years ago the forums were full of people who were using cracked copies of Traktor complaining bitterly about audio stopping after 30mins or so.
As for the original problem, if your software is ligit - contact Ableton suport, they can use your crashlogs to help solve the problem.
if your software is cracked - buy your software.
exactly!
firstly can i assure all the critics that this software is legit ;), on the other hand i would love to know how many could honestly say that they haven’t used SOME sort of pirated software in their music producing careers to date… i reckon a minority !!
did’nt wanna start such a debate tbh
thanks to all for helpin me out on this one, for some reason the project seems to be running smoothly again.
Peace.
I know you moral knights like to jump on the bandwagon of turning this on us and accusing us of being nasty to someone who is just asking for help BUT this is a well known error that is caused by using corrupted ie illegaly cracked software. ICN you can say oh you guys must know this error because you two use illegal software and got the same error message and in response to that ill say, I only usr legal purchased software and have never had this error message.
Also it doesnt matter if Ableton is legit as ANY illegaly cracked software can cause this error message. Its also not a conspiracy that Ableton checks on you while you work and gives you the error message to deter you from using cracked stuff, basically it has to do with the code, drivers, cracks etc etc it doesnt play nice with Ableton.
Also from the above post I think we can see what was causing the error messagr. Your also right anyone that says they have never used cracked software is a liar. But when you start releasing tracks you have to be legit, I remembet a story of a high end studio that got caught using cracked waves and I think they are to this day paying them off. If you wanna use cracked software get ready for unexpected errors, glitches and viruses. Also as a tip make sure your pc with the cracked stuff on isnt connected to the internet.
@Peter - Glad its sorted for ya!

Jan - Aint got nothing to do with using cracks - or not.
Its about being a bastard to someone that is having problem.
With all sincerity - no-one here has the back end knowledge of any program to be able to randomly accuse someone right from the get go of using cracked software. You’ve never mentioned that you work for Ableton Tech Support either?
Bit unfair. We all know the compatibility issues that can occur with OS / Plugins / DAW’s. Isnt that why theres so many updates?
Benefit of doubt / Innocent until proven guilty and all those other stupid concepts, yeah?!
slender (11/05/2011)
I’ve had the same problem since 8.21 and it is legit
So I think it’s pretty presumptuous to accuse someone of using pirated software when they are asking for help
Well said dude! Poor bugger!
Think as some others on here that it’s just the fact that some 3rd party plugin is “shortcutting” Ableton.
The VST is doing something your DAW isn’t expecting.
You can try removing plugins that are used in the project that might cause the problem
Some time back I had my legit Ableton Suite crashing quite often. Noticed that my laptop was getting quite hot. Seemed to be that my fan was cluthered with dust. Now all runs smooth again.
Besides that, I can image that NI and other parties include some naughty stuff in their software, but I’m pretty sure to cracking groups can remove that as well. Come on, those guys are simply as smart as the ones working for those companies.
ICN (11/05/2011)
Just out of interest - How do you 2 Guys know that he is using illegal software?
Cos, as far as I can see, it can be a problem with permissions & plugins… both of which Ableton have supported customers for.
Have you ever got the same error? Is that how you both know 100%?
Just interested where you found it out
THIS
The problem I see is you should not accuse someone of using cracked software just because they are asking a legitimate question
Sure mention it by no means that it may be the issue - but since the accusers neither work for Live or the plugin designers I still see it as jumping too conclusions and not being that helpful
Like it has been said I would say 95% of people here have used some cracked software - especially when starting out - its the nature of the internet - only after a while do people go legit. This may be for a number of reasons - someone in this economic climate is not able to fork out 500+ quid on something they may not have the talent or time for.
I honestly believe software companies allow cracks in their code as it would be better someone using their product than their competitors (just makes better long term sense) with the hope that they or mates will buy their product down the line
And lets face it you just need to look at Abletons profits to realise they ain’t going bust anytime soon
