I need some help with this controller . first of all i dont own any encoded CDs or Vinyl . and i also never used Traktor to Dj before.
at the Moment i dont have any Dj equipment either. I usually use the Club CD Djs and sometimes i bring my ableton controller .
I have some of this question for whoever have this controller.
can you Dj straight up from Tracktor with the X1 ?
can you use with a different audio interfaces or do i have to buy NI soundcard?
please I need help so bad with this controller since i am planning to buy it
thanks
i love mine mate, would recomend it. u dont need an ni audio card for it and u can also use it as an excellent midi controler.i recomend u get an audio card with at least 2 channel outs puts for traktor so u can hook up to a mixer… oh and get a mixer too! nif u dont already. i got a djm 400 got £150 secondhand
sorry I should clear this up a bit. if you are planning DJing wit traktor and dont at the moment the best thing to do is get an NI sound card, you will need at least the audio DJ knotrol or the audio knotrol 1 which I have, you dont need an NI sound card but one with at lest 2 channel outputs is required as the soundcard will spilt the decks on screen into channels going out from your soundcard, so if u have 2 decks on screen then theses will go into a mixer, there is ways to do this internally in tracktor but the x1 is made to work best alongside a mixer. So will need all 3 for the best set up!
The x1 is made so you dont need to touch your laptop when djing. therefore a mixer for the cross fader, bass, mid etc is essential I think. Something like the DJM400 is cheap and good quality as well, spend more and go for a 4 channel mixer if u have the cash
thanks for the help dude ! that sounds awesome . I have an M audio with 2 outputs. hopefully that does the work also about buying a Dj mixer would not be necessary for me since i have to Dj in the Clubs system.
thanks for the Help that cleared alot of doubts and i am buying this controller today
go for man! I never used the fx on tracktor before I got it so well worth it. But if you DJing or trying it out at home u might wanna get a mixer… I dont DJ with ableton but traktor is more live, ie not automation… I alway go through a rough set at home before I do it in a club. Highly recomend I mixer, even just a cheap £40 2 channels, bass, mid, hi and cross fader one. I thinkn you’ll see what I mean when u get it or do you just never DJ or record at set at home ever???
Do u just ableton just now? whats that like to DJ with… havent looked at any of the DJ tuts here since I’ve been doing it for years. Had traktor since 2006/7 and ye old 1210’s for years before

yeahh I am using ableton now . I been Djing since 1996 with Turntable , Cd Djs etc. never had my own equipment but it was the cheaper option for me . to get Ableton and a MIDI controller and a laptop that i already have .
so yeah ableton works wonders in a Live set , u can lay down tons of samples live and have studio FX at the fingertips. but the issue is that you have to program and time strech all your loops tracks, to fit the Dj mix. IMO ableton is great but it is too much time consuming .
so i decided to upgrade to traktor because it Feels more like the real thing than ableton. the Sync option is great in traktor but i sincerely can beat match blindfolded but people still wouldn’t notice the difference so i guess i am going all digital from now on .
