Should we use Multiband Compressors?

I heard about the  Multiband compressor could be very destructive 90% of the time when you master your track

my friends  told me that is better to try to nail the mix  in  the first export … so when you work on the premastering stage  there is no need to use Multiband compressor. plug ins ( like limiters, sonic enhancers , stereo enhancer and compressor) should be enough to cover your need. and most people dont know exactly how to properly use the Multiband compressor wich causes lots of chaotic frequencies to clash in the premastering stage.

according to him he told me the is not a good idea to use Multiband compressor as long that you know mastering well .

so what you guys think ?

i think paul frindles dynamic spectrum mapper is one of the most important and original plugins to come around in recent years.itll will prbably catch on in another year or 2 when some future music in the studio with so and so shows that producer using it.seriously i cant recommend this plugin enough.

wow that really does look pretty neat, thanks for the heads up.

plus paul is a really cool, brilliant guy and always willing to answer any questions you might have and share invaluable techniques with you once you’ve purchased his product or a lot of times,if he has some free time even if you havent purchased his product(yet, because you will end up grabbing it at some point, believe me)

if anyone wants to hear a quick demo of it on lets say a song from one of the recent htsl’s just let me know, ill glady do it up real quick and let you hear for yourselves what this thing can do.

that would be cool.

that would be a HUGE help bobby. would be very kind of you.

uploading now.i just went through it real quick.with a little more time i could achieve even better results but i think this is more than enough to help prove how good this plugin is.btw this is the only thing used on this track except i prefered one of the dithering algs from apogee that you get with wavelab so i used that instead of the included one on the plugin

ahh I see, interesting! will definitely need to demo it on my own stuff, just wonder how it works on more ‘dense’ tracks…But, its bloody £200 :w00t: so not the cheapest of plugs

thanks for demo mate

it works amazing on any material.its really not that expensive considering the quality of the plugin.just l;ook at some of frindles demos of it on tricky material like jazz, its also amzing on vocals.theres so many things you can do with it actually
