omg how sick is this tune?
That Tom Cosm guy is talented as f*ck, you know i recon if he didn’t give away all his music all the time and sold stuff on beatport, he’d easily make a big name for himself.
What a legend, looks like he’s rocking the festival too!
Yeah he is one cool guy - and I think he’s not realy the type of person who is in it for the cash to be honest, he should be in the UK soon, so I would love to check him out

Yeah well there isn’t much (if any) cash in it anyways, but the whole idea having your music on Beatport & etc is it builds your profile. Look at Deadmau5 as an example.
If you find out when / where he is in the UK then let me know, would love to watch him perform as well as hopefully have a chat.
No
oh ok then
oh
ok
:hehe:
by giving it all away he is raising his profile though and then he makes a few quid from doing gigs and his website etc to live off etc…
fecking awesome tune and a really talented bloke i read some where he is now a ableton certified instructor now to…
Funny Roben…
He’s always spoke about not having a chat with you when he comes over to the UK!!
LOL
Really nice touch the Athletes Foot Carpet Rider that they had there on-stage. Fair play!
Seriously good tune… Will check out more of his stuff tomorrow. Always thought he was Trance.
Really good example of how a simple idea can be stretched out with a bit of variation.
I have had a few email chats with him and he seems to be a really decent guy and very helpfull - unfortunatly he tried selling a tune to raise money for a very good charity called Doctors without Borders and PayPal froze his account which basically messed up eveything he’s doing
…and he is now an Ableton Certified trainer
I have an interview with him on my site as it goes.
The guy knows his Ableton onions, though weirdly at the same time does some really hacky work arounds to various problems, like using automation to duck the bass and stuff!
Good shizzal though!
Turns out the man himself is in the UK right now and doing a workshop in Scotland this weekend:
pffft Scotland.
Typcial, so close, yet so far away.

That was the idea Roben… He wanted to make sure there was no chance of you stalking him!

Bite me
Here is an email I received from the man himself today
Hey!
It’s been a month now into the EU adventure and I am having a fantastic time. There have been no major dramas (like my bags going missing) but we have run into a few hiccups here and there, including
* My partner getting her wallet stolen on the beach in Barcelona
* Me eating something suspect and spending a good few days on the loo
* Getting pulled off a Russian train because there was something wrong with our visas
But that’s pretty much it! Things have been going frightfully smooth.
We arrived in Berlin first off so I could touch base with the Ableton’s and get a tour of their offices. Really flash place, I didn’t realise over 100 people work at their Berlin HQ… Had some meetings and fun nights out (Germans know how to drink), and spent the rest of the time being tourists
After Berlin we jumped on a plan to Tel-Aviv… one of the most security strenuous things I’ve had to do… even to just get on the plane! We had interviews and our bags scanned over and over… everything checked out and we were on our way. Had a bit of a negative experience on the plane with some little **** trying to “relieve” himself next to us… nothing a stern talking to couldn’t fix. Random.
Israel was a great experience, we kept as far away from politics as we could, I was there to teach and to play music. The party was on the sea of Galilee which was amazing… rocking set!
After Israel we went to Sonar Festival in Barcelona where I was to host 3 workshops all of which went great. During the evening we went to Sonar by night where I got to see Chemical Brothers live for the first time, what an amazing show! I danced me *** off. We spent 3 days by ourselves in Spain looking around before heading over to Russia.
Russia wasn’t nearly as scary as people made it out to be, we got through immigration very fast and were greeted by our driver as soon as we left. He took us straight to our hotel where we had a buffet breakfast waiting (with some interesting choices of food, Salmon eggs on bread at 7am anyone?). The people at the hotel weren’t very friendly, but that’s ok… we just slept and ate.
The workshop in Russia completely packed out… about 100 people in a small room… it got very hot and sticky. Everyone had great questions and we spent two hours covering all sorts of stuff. I had an interpreter which was a first time for me… lots of fun, slowed things down but it added a nice almost comical element… especially during the power cuts where I had to ad lib for a while as there was no sound, music or air con.
We went straight to the festival from the workshop, and that was excellent too. A nice solid bush doof doof, smiling people, tents, full power trance… it was cool We spent the days swimming in the river.
I had a workshop at the festival, but hardly anyone spoke english, so I sat down in the workshop area and wrote a tune, from scratch, in session mode. No words were said. People saw the projection on the roof and came in to watch. It worked out really well. My set in the morning also went without a hitch
We caught the train from Moscow to Helsinki, that’s when I started getting sick. I managed to get the Helsinki workshop out of the way before getting really sick… but the problem was I had to play a set on a boat the next day. I filled up with drugs and managed to have a good time for 2 hours and play fine
Now I am just chilling in Helsinki… we are heading to Amsterdam in a few days before going to Edinburgh for a 2 day intensive workshop (details on my site!). After that our plans become a bit sketchy.
There’s a gig in Switzerland on the 24th of July, that will be fun… Also I will be hosting a workshop at Boom Festival in August… then heading to Dubai in September… but apart from that we are just cruzing.
At this stage I am looking around for anyone who has any last minute ideas as to anywhere we could go, preferably for a set or a workshop We can travel anywhere if the situation is right… so if you or anyone you know might want a couple of Kiwis on your door to do some Ableton training, or rock a dancefloor, flick me back a message
I better leave it there, I’ll send out another update sometime in the future. Here’s some photos for ya!
Take care
-Tom (and Jalanda)
How is Jalanda after the Phantom Pregnancy?

Well if we can score a venue, and enough peeps then no reason why not!
