Sidechain Compression Ableton Live 9

I have been watching tutorials about using a closed hi hat instead of a kick for side chain compression in live 9.br
br
In the tutorials the tutor used a closed hi hat for a faster response time, because the tail of the kick slows down the compressor response time using a live 8 compressor in live 9.br
br
I tried this method and it seems to work and I’m wondering if this method is commonly used by professionals and what are your views about using this method.br
br
Also do you think that using melodyne editor 64 bit is a good option for a rewired sample editor in live 9? And if you do use this method have you notice the click when recording back into live 9 from melodyne 64 bit? My work around is to save the edited file in melodyne then put it into live 9 and this work around bugs me.

you can use any sound with an attack to trigger the side chain.br
br
the other thing you can do in ableton is hipass filter the sidechain on the way in to the compressor. so you only get the top end of the click.br
br
both are widely used techniques.

I think you should contact Melodyne support about issues with melodyne.
