Sidechain Compressor Clicking

Does anyone know how to stop this, I’m using cubase, I’ve tried cubases inbuilt compressor as its VST3 and dosent need routing but I also had the same issue with FabFilter PRO C (which I love btw)

There’s no FFB1 or FFB2 on these compressors and using the release and attack to try and get rid of it is a waste of time cause mucks up my sidechain!

Any help?

What are you sidechaining.

Compressor draws out the tails of stuff I find… so if theres a click in the sample sometimes… it gets amplified.

Usually fkn about with the attack / release / threshold etc… gets rid for me

Yah this is a release thing usually. I find when I play with the release it usually goes.

If it doesnt then my threshold is wrong.

I change the attack relative to what sound it is. Sometimes I don’t change at all…

Some heavy sub bass, I was actully playing with the attack but never thought about the release, doh, will try that out

Play around with your release and attack settings.

Also if you’re only doing it on a bass, perhaps try putting an EQ after the sidechain, that should help also.

is the attak or release bro . just tweak it

the cubase compressor will sidechain well

when i tried it at the start it was difficult to get but keep at it and it will work

are you using a sidechain trigger with NO BUS on the output?

try shortening the decay of whatever your using as your input of your sidedchain, if that doesnt work use a closed hat instead of a kick, if that doesnt work mess with the attack/release.

Also why the hell are you using a pile of garbage program like Cubase?

I like cubase mate! I felt like change, love trying new stuff and I’m glad I did.

Attack/Rlease on compressor didnt work as I mentioned, trigger is a kick with short decay as always.

I’ve yet to try and shorten the release/decay on the synth but will try it soon when I’m back in the studio.

Have u tried cubase jan? dont knock it till u have!

Lazy Rich, Chase & Status, NERO, Justice, Infected Mushroom… lots more.

So you’ve completely switched to cubase now?

Random

no mate, I’m just trying it out to see what its like but I really like it so far, its more flexiable then ableton imo which I like. There where a few things bugging me in ableton. Like the way grouping and bussing works for example.

I’m gonna complete a full track in it and decide from there. I can always rewire ableton anyway so I’m getting the best of both at the moment.

Mate I learnt on Cubase 4, I know it in and out. I just hate how anything you do in Cubase takes 15 mins and I can do way easier in Ableton its just such a god awful program, tbh to give you an idea of how much I hate Cubase… Id rather listen to every episode of Drum Code with Adam Beyer…

Lol u funny dude !!

I think cubase makes you finish more tracks… The way the only option to hear things is to lay them out as an arrangement i think is way more productive than abletons scene thing where you end playing about with stuff for ever.

i recently switched from cubase to ableton

i totally love cubase but i find i can work faster in ableton

i prefer to mess about and get ideas going quickly which is easier in live

but i prefer cubase for arrangement - i find arrangement in ableton quite difficult

but putting a track together i find takes longer when i use cubase

i prefer to work quickly to get the guts of a track set up and then tweak it all at the end

I agree with phil, I find myself playing around in session way to much, and then when I go to arrange it out, I find things dont flow very well and up up sacking it or changing everything

i find a handy way of arranging in ableton is to get the track going in session view and make an 8 bar loop of everything playing at once

paste the 8 bars over and over til you get the desired length and then start cutting out sections til you have a shape like a track arrangement will normally look

then i add in some audio tracks and drop a few noises and messed up samples etc

and a riser or whatever
