SIDECHAIN w/ HARDWARE

doez anyone know how to sidechain with an hardware compressor?

there should be another set of inputs on the back or the front of the compressor.

and the principles for routing are all the same

you need to “insert” the compressor onto the channels you want to compress… you need special insert cables, these have a stereo jack at one end going to 2 mono jacks at the other end.

then you just use an aux send on your mixing desk to send signal to the sidechain input on your compressor

if you have multiple busses on your desk this is the most useful place to have your compressor

thank you very much… it was a big prob for me …

Yeah Phil basically nailed it there, or you could have a direct out from your mixer instead of using an aux

yeah totally… its normally the kick you want to send to the side-chain so direct in would work well.
