Simple Question

How many sounds do you typically use in a the track ?

Depends if you wanna count all the separate drum tracks etc… fx risers etc… probs all in all 30ish

Typical of the average House/Tech House track.

Varies per track, it also depends whether we’re counting the return channels in this?

Just the Main Sounds - Not the FXs or Drums

For me sub bass, bass, stabs, lead and then loads of fx - but it all depends on the type of sound you want to create

Are we also counting the layers which will make up (for example) the synth or the bassline?

Or are we counting those collectivly as 1 as I see you’re counting drums as one. My drums alone usually makes up around 5+ layers.

try to listen some new stuff on beatport and u will see that they use only 3 or 2 melodic elements and the rest is just the beat . but depends always what u are trying to aim for .
