So I said f**k it and bought the Maschine

Well, I was diligently saving for the Moog Little Phatty, but then Native Instruments had to go and give the Maschine VST plug-in support. And then of course, ppl here who shall remain nameless, had to frequently bring it to my attention with their tantalizing posts about its lustful pleasures.

Suffice to say I am angry…

THAT I DIDN’T BUY IT A LONG TIME AGO!!! What a sick sick package and I thank you all for driving me to get it now rather than later. I’m literally addicted to it. Got 3 hours a sleep per night since I got it just tinkering around with different sounds, sequences and all the other cool stuff it does. +5 to NI

im picking mine up tomorrow! looking forward to it. glad 2 hear you enjoyed it!

Congrats man! It’s really a great piece of gear and its the centerpiece around my beat creation process.

and i’m also saving up for one as well

I am jealous - any one want to buy my first born

Can someone explain to me why this is so incredible? Why not buy a basic drum pad and do all the processing in your computer?

I think once its starts feeding from your nipples I guess you get attached to it ?

you can DJ with it… & do FX beats / 1shots at the same time.

It’s shiny and has knobs and it costs 500 quid whats not to like

Is it similar to cubase groove agent?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice one! Welcome to the fold! I’ve just discovered a neat little trick that might speed up your workflow. When you’re in keyboard mode, rather than coming out of it completely then finding the sound you want then pressing shift etc etc to get back into keyboard mode, just press ‘Select’ and you can swap between sounds on the fly.

Just one of the many love children of Maschine.

whats so special about it? I might look into it if its worth buying

For me, its the way it effectively turns all your software into hardware (especially with the new 1.6 update that incorporates VST hosting). It blends pretty much seamlessly into your DAW (I use Ableton but have used it in Logic as well) and allows you to sample anything at all on or off your system. Because of the tight way the software and hardware are integrated, it is a very tactile and powerful tool to then take those sounds and completely transform them into something you would never have thought in the beginning. And of course it’s a great beat-making tool. And it doubles as a fully customisable, velocity-sensitive MIDI controller.

The features Maschine has are now too wide in scope to summarise here, but if you’re thinking of getting one I’d start by looking on YouTube at the many videos of people messing about with it, visit Sounds and Gear or better yet, try one out in a music store. I’d be very surprised if you didn’t fall for the little box of love.

i was wondering the same thing. i have way to many guitar pedals so i might sell some not sure what to buy with the money, i keep reading about maschine and have seen some videos on it but im not sure what it is that sets it apart from everything else i guess its fairly priced and 1.6 updated seems to really increase the value.

Thanks! That actually did help me. It was getting a bit monotonous trying to swap sounds, and I knew there had to be a better way to do it.

Oh, btw, does anyone know how to properly map it to use in Reason?? For Kong obviously. But Reason is only picking it up as the NI Audio Control.

Sorry - stopped using Reason at version 4. I’m sure there will be a template out there somewhere. Have you checked the NI Maschine MIDI Template forum thread? The link is below…
