Lol you dont have to say anything specific im just exposing the reason y your all pissed off about.
Well… we are not selfish people Jan.
We’ve spent a lot of time here & I think most people that have posted in this thread are speaking from the goodness of their heart with ways that they believe the business can thrive.
Thats why no-one you think is pissed off actually asked for anything for themselves…
I think if anyone here is guilty of anything (apart from Phil getting understandably defensive at the level of live feedback here) is that some of us care too much about the bigger picture. A lot of people have invested a lot of time here in this communtity … so I guess (speaking from my own POV) thats why we feel attached in some way.
We’re not asking for specifics… where looking at what we think is broke & how it can be fixed.
You must be reading a thread in a parallel universe Jan - as its crystal clear what the whole thing is about.

Yep
jjdejong0 (04/01/2012)
Err aline im not *** licking I just felt it was unfair with all the negative **** being said. Also Phil you hit the nail on the head, all this is about is the lack of Techno content. IMO a lack of Techno can only help this site, if you disagree check my sig…
Since I was the op on this I would like to stress that it was not a call for more techno content - if it had been you know me well enough I would have mentioned it
It had just seemed to me that there had been very little new content last year - in 2010 there seemed to be something new coming out every week - sure I realise that it would be impossible to be able to keep that rate going, especially as SA had to cut back
I also kept on seeing Bryan and Phil saying wait something great is round the corner which never seemed to appear
A;so the lack of Bryan and Phil’s presence on the site with no modding did strike as rather odd and no xmas or NY message even odder
As for negativity whats wrong with criticising so long it is constructive (unlike yours which is a one man campaign against a certain genre)
I personally think I have outgrown SA tuts (unless they do a Maschine series - hint ) which I am grateful to all the SA Team for - but at least the post has opened up some dialogue which was my intention in the 1st place
I just feel its extremely easy to take a stand of ‘well if it was my site, I would do this and this etc’. The fact is Phil and Bry are the ones whos site it is, they are the ones that have real monetary investments in it, they are the ones that have to deal with errors and maintenance. They are the ones that have to really put in the work and I think in current economic climate money really speaks and the ideas you put forward that Phil and Bry owe you something cos of all the hard work you have put in posting stuff on an internet forum is ridiculous. The idea that Phil and Bry need to pay attention to this non subscribing group of people because they might then subscribe in the future is also a crazy argument. Tbh money at the end of the day is what matters and money and time what SA spend on non subscribers in the hope they might one day subscribe is money and time that would be much better spent on keeping current subscribers happy and advertising.
This might seem a bit cold and harsh but I think its the truth, SA isnt here to socially entertain us, its a business and they want to make money.
Good points Jan…

It’s a shame that your right on this! It would be cool if it was a community as well. On a side note where have all the old regulars gone? There isn’t many people here from when I first joined? Perhaps there is a gap in the market?!? Dunno
I dont think theres a gap in the market Mussi - just as Paul was saying… think a lot of people have just moved on.
I do think SA can only take you so far, after a while your on your own. Tbh im not sure when my subscription runs out but I really dont know if im gonna resubscribe. Now this isnt because I dont like the content but ive learnt a lot from here and what im finding is a lot of stuff Phil does in his tutorials are things I do as well so im kinda like well whats left? I really believe I need to stop studying and start creating and experimenting and having fun.
I was thinking today about when I first started producing and how much fun everything was. I mean I can remember some of the first tracks I made and how incredible it felt to make a cool lead line or an awesome bass. Now its like my head is wrapped up in so much theory and do’s and donts and theres this constant pressure you put on yourself to get it to the so called professional sounding standard. It is becoming less fun and more like a chore tbh and I really want to get my head out of it. I have found just by making tracks or remixes and not really worrying about if big name dj’s will like it or a big label wants to sign it etc. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted and I think my tracks are starting to get better. Wether thats because I dont feel like a pressure cooker or if im just getting better with experience I really dont know, but hey who cares right.
Please keep on Topic

funny i read this , when while back you gave many advices about getting signed to big Labels and ranting
Glad you getting wiser my friend.hehe
I remember the advice but i cant recall any ranting?
As a newcomer I’d just like to say I find this site tremendous value for money there’s more than enough great content to keep me going throughout the year and get me to the level I’d like to be! Been self learning for years through books and magazines and in my first week here I ve felt I’ve learnt and understood more than those years learning solo! It seems to me through reading through the posts that most peeps have a passion for this site and listening to some of the tracks you guys have done I think Bryan and phil have done a great job on the site and I’m glad I joined, not only looking to learn from Bryan n phill looking to learn from u guys too!
I have recently joined this site and I have to say I am really impressed with the amount of content and I think its definetely worth the money! The tutorials I have watched so far have been very in depth and useful. I do have 1 question though, hopefully Im not being stupid. At the end of Chords - Part 1 Graham says there will be a part 2 coming soon but I cant find that anywhere? Cheers.
