not a bad start mate, just add in a few more elements, heavier kick, some harmonies to gel the synths and you’re pretty much there…

Finish it off and show us what you’ve done :D4

fun track!

whihi it’s really happy!

Yeah I think what I needed was just a better mixdown. I will admit I did a pretty crappy job on the first go around.

I went back and spent a few hours and brought a few things out.

I fixed up the drums, EQ’d the kick a bit more 2 bring it out, and did some more mixing for the leads.

I think you guys will hear the other sounds that were being overridden before.

Thanks again for the input and I hope you guys enjoy!

lemme know what you think.

the new file is in the sig.

Hey, here with a bit of a track review I suppose.

You lost me in the beginning a bit, just because the drums sound a bit caffeined up and the punch of the kick is sort of lost… Tweak the compression settings, you’re almost there.

I really like the breakdowns, very smooth, and the melodic ideas are there. Still, the buildup feels obligatory. I would stretch it out, maybe with some pitch risers, little synth melodies over the top, white noise buildups, reverse crashes :w00t: (music O-face.)

The synth work is really terrific as well; basses are clear, middy, driving. Lower the volume a little bit of the melody. Also, I would cut out certain parts of the melody for a bit of an interchange between gritty elements and happy melodies. Also, try adding triplets in there, or swung notes. That’ll help groove the melody so it sounds more human and organic.

Not to harp on the kick drum AGAIN, but during the drops it was lost a bit. I forget whose it was, but that kick drum compression trick where you open up the release until the kick sits in the mix… Golden.

Still, hard parts over, I forsee tops a few more hours left on this song and you’re good.

I def agree with the buildup. not my finest hour. hahaha. I def just kinda threw it in there to get to the drop. I was kinda lazy with this track. Still needs mixing improvements.

on the money Flaxo! thanks for the suggestions! Going to get this done tonight.

Will post up the new version when I get er done!

Thanks again for all the suggestions everybody.

i’m liking where you’re headed with this. i have a suggestion for your talking bass thingy that happens every so often: it sounds a little awkward at the moment to me against the other sounds in the song, i think it needs a little EQ’ing and you should cut the other elements of the song when it plays to get it sitting well in the mix. maybe add in a little compression too so the beginning “eeeeey” starts out squeezed by the kick and really opens up with the “yaaa”. i agree with flaxo on the kick suggestions, just a little work needed to get it sounding punchier. if you push back the snare hits just a tine tiny bit so as to not have it hitting the exact same moment as the kick, i think that will also help give it some swing and character.

thanks for the input man! Flaxo as well! I spent some time and went and fixed a few things.

I finally got the kick knocking right. It allowed me to do a better overall mixdown.

It’s hitting pretty hard now!

Thanks again for all the input!
