Struggling.. big time.. need some good ips + advice

hey Guys…

Hopefully somebody can help me out with my problem

for the past few months i have started countless amounts of new projects. I get all my drums together , melodys etc etc and they all seem to be fine and have plenty of potential.

its when i come to arranging the track i seem to loose interest or i cannot seem to focus or have the inspiration to complete the track.

progressive trance is what im into, is there any good video tutorials that anyone could reccomend to me on SA or even on youtube that could help  me get back on track, something to do with arrangement ???

im also curious if this has happened anyone else??

at the moment i have have alot of un-arranged projects that could have good potential if i find this inspiration that i need to get stuck into them…

thanks in advance and i hope someone can get me out of this hole that iam stuck in :D

Welcome to my world - I’ve the same problems.

Only thing that helps in terms of arrangement - is to try & copy an arrangement of a track you like - if you can. If you use the markers at the top of your arrange (take it you are on Live?) you can stick notes @ 32 / 64 / Small breakdown / Back in etc…

That can help.

Otherwise - arrange where you think things should be - maybe without listening @ first. Have your intro / outro & space for a breakdown or whatever.

Harder done than said - however “they” say that you should try & finish everything for practice. Theres fkn sense in that… Hmmm

The only advice is just finish one track then more will follow

We all have unfinished projects - I guarantee it

what slender said!

just takes lots of practice. doing an arrangement gets way easier once you practice a bunch.

wait till you get to the MIXDOWN stage. you think its cool cause ur almost done…

but lemme tell you… ur not. mixing takes foreverrr to do it correctly.

AND u wanna pull ur hair out for listening to a track 75134252 times.

nobody said it was easy! just gotta be dedicated.

What everyone says, copy the structure from a track you like, at least to start with.

Once you have the basic structure down it is easy to start making creative decisions that will move you away from the track you copy.

My advice would be make yourself create a rough layout before you are bored of what you have created so far. A vid can’t make you do it, only you can.

Also I find that once I have done a simple layout, it starts to sound a lot more like a real track and, it makes me more interested in it again and moving forward becomes really obvious (for a while at least).

Yeah… If I dont sketch out a good 3/4 of it in the 1st sitting, then it’s doomed to be a loop forever.

After that, its doomed to be a 1/2 finished arrangement forever - so there ya go!

Half finished arrangements are much better than a collection of loops.

Not if in reality they are just a collection of loops

I understand what you are saying, but I still think it is better. Each step down the road to a completed track makes an improvement.

thanks for the reply’s, i really appreciate your helps lads…

dont get me wrong, i have finished many projects in the past

its just lately,  ihave been tryin to copy other tracks arrangements and i get to a part  where i find myself unable to copy or  imitate to the best of my abilitity something thats goin on in the “pros” tracks… this then shatters my confidence

I know its probably just a case of stickin at it for as long as it takes but im finding myself loosing interest quite fast because i can’t seem to achieve the desired sounds i’m looking for …

hopefully i can get myself out of this hole soon.

cheers again

so you are saying you are struggling to get the desired sound? or you have issues sequencing your track ?they are 2 different things. arranging a track is not that hard but creating a sound having a model is kind of hard.

anyways man the best way to achieve your goals is just practice as much as u can
