This summer will see the Sonic team decamp to the Waterfront Hall in Belfast for the annual Urban Arts Academy. As one of the Academy’s key delivery partners we will be offering full week and weekend courses in DJing (beginner and intermediate), music production (rock and electronic), video production and much more!



DJING (BEGINNER) / 13-17 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £60



Taught by Sonic tutor and NI DJing royalty, Gleave Dobbin, this course is perfect for anyone who wants to get to grips with one of the most sought after careers in the music business. Whether you’re into Rock, Hip-Hop, Trance or Techno, Gleave will be on hand to show you how to rock any house party, club night or festival. DJING (INTERMEDIATE) / 20-24 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £60



One of the most sought after DJ’s in Belfast and Sonic Academy’s head crate digger, Nik Muzka will show you how to scratch, tweak and effect your way to DJing greatness with this week long course. Hands on experience using FX units, Ableton Live, Serato and much more plus all the info you need to get yourself out there as a DJ from putting mix CDs together and promoting yourself online to getting gigs and running your own nights. MUSIC PRODUCTION (ROCK) / 13-17 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £60




If Rock Music is your thing and you want to start recording your own tracks this is the course for you. Sonic Academy Head of Music Technology Graham Ginty will be using ProTools software and state of the art hardware to show you how to record guitars, bass, vocals and drums plus how to mix and master your own tracks. MUSIC PRODUCTION (ELECTRONIC) / 20-24 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £60



Sonic Tutor and one half of Funkasaurus, Graham Ginty, takes you step by step through how to produce electronic music using Ableton Live. ABLETON LIVE / 18 JUL 09 & 19 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £25



This course will give all participants hands on experience using the most talked about piece of software around at the moment. Whether you want to DJ digitally, record and produce music, create a live show or manipulate video and audio for VJing or music videos, Ableton Live is the software for you. CREATE A MUSIC VIDEO / 18 JUL 09 & 19 JUL 09 / WATERFRONT HALL / £25



Phil Johnston & Bryan Spence, the creative team behind SonicAcademy.com will show you how to use HD video cameras and software such as Final Cut Pro to film, chop, slice and edit together you’re ideas into a final music video. For further info email phil@sonicacademy.com.

With the days of needing a big studio to produce a professional recording a thing of the past, this course will give all participants hands on experience with the software and hardware available to produce professional sounding home recordings. Each participant will have their own workspace to try out recording, mixing and mastering their own tracks. does the course just run for 1 day on either Saturday or Sunday? or is it spread across the 2 days?

It runs over the two days, covering aspects of both production and performance. 10am - 4pm each day!

cool thanks, had a look at some flights from stansted and it leave it a bit tght for time getting there on Sat and leaving on Sun :frowning:



will give it some proper thought this weekend and see what happens, hopefully you guys can do something at your office\studio at somepoint too.
