Hi guys hope you’re well and all is good?
Okay so I’ve attempted to tweak this track and try and get it to blend better. I’m still trying to get my head around EQ’ing and stuff but have attempted to add a little reverb to the percussion and given the kick more punch, which I think is driving the track along!
But, I’m wondering how you guys would go about “polishing” the sound so that it gets that sparkle? :w00t:
i like how it sounds as is, i dont think it needs any sparkle, what i would do is try and make the sounds more unique, right now it kinda sounds like a rip off of a 12 year old deadmau5 or something, i dont believe in having the biggest kick and shiniest snare drum, thats not what the music is about yet so many focus on that as being important, i think the parts you have are very nice, just the sounds are a bit too ‘common’ sounding, what i been doing a bit of recently is hitting the random function on sylenth and reverse engineering the output into useable sounds that have a bit more character than your standard preset fare, anyway thats my two pennies
I think you still have some really dissonant notes in there with the melody and just as before it sounds as though its two tracks forced into one still with the melody bit.
Hope I dont come of as too harsh, the weird synth sounds are still very nice, I just dont like the melody bit personally. Im sure some people will disagree with me.
Hey Ekko, thanks for taking the time to listen. I’m still in the experimenting phase of using Sylenth and actually understanding what each of the parameters do and which wave makes what sound etc…
I’ve actually started doing the same thing with the random presets though and then trying to recreate them to try and train my ears to work out sounds better, but Rome wasn’t built in a day so I know its gonna take time.
As for Deadmaus sounding? I’ve never actually listened to any of their stuff so I couldn’t comment whether it sounds the same or not :hehe: I spent 10yrs listening to and DJ’ing Hard House so this particular style of music is totally alien to me which is why I’m finding it so much fun to produce!

Hey Mistro, I listened to your comments previously and tbh banged my head against a brick wall a couple of times trying to fix what you were saying. Do you mean the pitch or do you mean the tone of it? Sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology, when I say tone I mean the actual sound of the synth as it lifts at the end of each note?
I tried creating loads of different synths but I think I’ve heard this one that many times that anything else I tried just didn’t sound right…
i can hear what mistro is talking about but i actually like how it sounds
To be honest with you it just sounds completely dissonant, have you checked your melody fits the key and scale cause it just sounds off.
The parts where the notes go higher especially sound dissonant, maybe it is that the pitch is being pushed upwards as youve said, that might be enough to push the notes to a dissonant pitch.
You can clearly see what I meant by a love or hate, ekko loves I hate
I really like the sound of the pads doing the chords in the second part, but like Mistro said, they are out of key. It’s not the tone, but the pitch. They definitely don’t belong in the same scale.
I agree with Ekko… Surprisingly!
OK, I’ll have another look at it when I get home later and make sure that they are all playing on the same wave-length!
