Suggestion for improving new tutorial selection process

First collect responses for different genres / styles, then do a poll so users can vote on what they want most, with each user getting a max of 3 votes.

I’ll start by listing a couple genres I’d love a tutorial for:

  1. Rough / Distorted Techno / Electro (a la Boyz Noize, ***kkk Offf, Mumbai Science, Harvard Bass)

  2. Deadmau5 Style Progressive House / Electro House - I know there’s a very brief mini tutorial, but a full track would be great. Something on the darker side of things like the 16th hour or Cthulu Sleeps

Let’s everyone add to the list, and see what rises to the top with votes?
  1. Gessafelstein - Hatred

    - YouTube

My suggestion is to get rid of the Tutorial Requests forum completely and SA decide what we need.

We all know what each of the genres are, people that want to make techno want more techno, people that want to make trance want more trance. Cycle through the popular genres regularly and give tech tips, theory and technique that can be used by everyone.

It might not be what everyone wants, but it would probably be better for them.

@TheAnt: I disagree. It’s extremely difficult, unless you spend enormous amounts of time, to stay completely up to speed on what’s happening in the electronic music scene. This forum is essential to helping the moderators realize that certain things are extremely popular or in very high demand – things they may not have expected.

I agree the choice is ultimately with SA. But the people who pay their bills (us) deserve a say in what gets made.

Just redo the poll every 3 months and you have a very efficient system for picking what the new tutorials are. SA doesn’t need to stick to it religiously, of course, but it would give them really good data to go from, and it would probably make a lot of users happy.

@thegeek We will have to agree to disagree then

No… Lets sort it out with Pistols at dawn :hehe:

FFS Jon - Stay on topic

Why are there no new tutorials coming out?? Seems like we only get like one a month. Tough to re-subscribe when new stuff hardly ever comes out…

in the last 2 months weve had 3 full courses and a bunch of tech tips.

We have Chris and graham working on their next tuts and im looking now for my next one.
