I am in the middle of trying to learn sound design and while doing so I am creating a nice dark song which is in need of some screeching highs.
What do you guys suggest for synths that are out there?
Keep in mind I am currently using the demo of DCAM already, but have no idea what I’m looking at with Cyhper.:hehe:
Trying to find videos on how this crap works is not easy to come by.

I found a nice tutorial explaining some of Massive’s parameters.
I’m thinking that Massive might be what I want, but wanted some feedback before I bought it. I know it’s been around for a little while and thought there might be something new and better out.

i use massive in every track i make. it is THE go-to synth for ALL dubstep.
cypher is an FM synth so its a bitch to understand. strobe is better for making bass IMO.

Yeah, I decided to get Massive. Getting ready to install it now.
I’ll pick up DCAM for my next purchase. It seems like a good buy once you understand how to work it.
So here I go, diving into sound design.
I have to admit, I’m not looking forward to it.
I’m sure once I start understanding it I will like it, but it just seems like a monster right now.
Yeah… Massive is a complete Melon twist the first few times you use it. But once you get it, and realise how amazingly versatile it is, you realise how awesome it is for making the wildest sounds.
Definitely stick with it, and get you head around how it lets you modulate things (ie all those empty boxes under controls) and you’re laughing.
Massive is a monster. I find I’m using it more and more in my tracks.
When I eventually get around my nervousness about starting a new dnb track it’ll def be the main synth on that.

This thing is nuts…or… the nuts!
I’ve been up all night reading the manual, looking at tutorials, and playing around with it.
Maybe you Massive pros can help me. The sound that I am looking for is similar to the one in the video at about 30sec. Trying to get some kind of a dirty guitar riff with porto on it for a lead.

…nevermind, I got it exactly except for the arp at the end. I’m thinking stepper for that part. Not that I want the same thing, but close.

you can pretty much make any sound with massive. the routing + FX are bar none.
