Tech house track - feedback needed

Hi all,

I’m working on a tech house track for a quite some time now. I’ve done some short and basic arrangement… almost no fx at all.

Everything is done in Ableton Live. I didn’t use any loops. I re-sampled a lot of sounds from my favorite tracks and used them to create my own track. The only instrument I used is Nexus - for the bassline. I wanted the bassline to sound clean and warm. But I think there is still some work to do… I used a lot of compression and auto filter but it doesn’t sound loud enough!

I’m happy with the result but I have the feeling that something’s missing… I want it to be more groovy. Also one of my biggest problem is the mastering… it just doesn’t sound loud and professional… I know this has been asked many times and that it’s a problem for every new producer. What I have understood is that I have to place every single element in the right place… but I have no idea how to do this. I know it’s done with a utility… I would appreciate any tutorials on this topic.

Any other suggestions or feedback are welcome. I’m ready to watch some more specific Sonic videos. Also do you think I should add more elements to the track?

Thanks

No feedback… is it that bad? :o

Hi Encrypt,

If you want to get more feedback it is best to put your tracks on Soundcloud and then embed the player into your post, people are funny about downloading files from people they don’t know.

Also it is best if you put your post in the tunes - mixes - podcasts fourm here:

And if it’s better please some mod to move the thread to the tunes - mixes - podcasts forum. Thanks and I hope to hear some feedback…

thanks for posting the link in Soundcloud. your tech house track sounds bouncy , really good job on the Drums. the only thing i noticed working on Tech House full bars is that they lack movement or some type of modulation. maybe adding and taking stuff out on your arrangement might fix it . but somehow i felt that the loop becomes very repetitive .

try to work more in the arrangement maybe and add more sounds and take others out while you do arrangements. also having an evolving synthetic percussion might help to give you that movement in your track.

this is my opinion . i am not a pro as other students here but the least i can help

nice going mate…

check out the “mixing - creating space” course…

Thanks for the feedback guys… will note all things and try to improve the track.

Other feedback is welcome too! :stuck_out_tongue:

sounds rely good…im listing to it with my AH headphones and its sounds dope!

Although it’s only a short piece of your track, I kinda like it.

Does remind me a bit of Super Flu.

What do you actually want louder. It sounds loud enough to me. Don’t wanna loose the dynamics.

You can get it more groovy by changing the groove from the bassline. Or add another bassline pattern. Yours isn’t that powerful.

You got quite a lot on the beat and exactly off the beat. What you can try, is adding some items/sounds on the 2/4 and 4/4 places. Not hammering in it full, but placing sounds on some occasions might to the trick for you.

Thanks a lot guys… really helpful feedback. I’ve fine tuned the track a bit and updated the link on soundcloud. Arrangement is the same and you might not hear any difference, but I changed a lot of small things and added reverb (small amounts :D) on almost every track. I also used stereo imaging plugins… it sounds much better now.

I will leave it as it is now and work on the arrangement and bassline.
