Ratchet Leads for Melodic Techno

View Course

In this video, Protoculture explains a few ways to get the classic ‘Ratchet Lead’ stuttering sound heard in many Melodic Techno tracks into your own productions.

We first look at using conventional methods such as LFOs or modulation envelopes in your synth along with simply writing in the MIDI - before checking out some more controlled and inspiring methods in Bitwig using sequencers, macros and automation.

Whichever way you choose, it’s an awesome technique and sound to incorporate into your tracks, so why not give it a go!

As always on point and inspiring to watch. Thanks a lot Nate.

Super cool as always from Nate. Not only did I learn a ton, but now I’m wondering if I need to rethink Ableton and consider Bitwig…

Thanks for your comment :+1:

Bitwig is sick when it comes to onboard modulation & effects possibilities IMO, and I’m not even talking about delving more into “The Grid” inside Bitwig.

Defo worth to be checked, you can get a demo from their website and have a look at those courses from Nate :

Bitwig 5 Beginner Level 1 with Protoculture

Bitwig 5 Beginner Level 2 with Protoculture

Thanks and will do.
