Thanks Nate, your ideas are always so inspiring to me. It helps a lot.

The instrument blender is such a great idea which sound unbelievable good. Thanks for that. I will for sure use it in one of my upcoming productions.

I’ve always wondered about the ‘delta’ feature in sound clipping: I understand that we hear the clipped signal, but does this clipped sound actually remain in the final output? And if so, is it mixed with the original sound in a way that makes it less noticeable to our ears?

A delta signal just let’s you hear the processing that’s applied by a plugin, the way it’s applied to the full sound will likely depends of the type of plugin : i.e the delta signal from a de-esser will let you hear the audio that’s gonna be removed from the source, the delta signal from a saturation plugin will let you hear the audio that’s gonna be added ( i.e noise or harmonic distortion ), and in the case of a clipper, the delta signal is the audio exceeding a defined threshold amount set in the plugin settings and picked up by the plugin, this audio will be pushed down in volume below the defined threshold and blend back into the full audio since a clipper is more or less a volume envelope-shaper.

Listening to the delta signal can be handy to check you’re not overdoing things and pushing the plugin to hard, but always listen in context with other elements of the song anyway.

Good information and clearly presented, lots of useful stuff I haven’t been using before. Thank you!
