Tbh ICN, those threads have jus become a wash with tunes and chat…as do most of the tech threads…why not have a no bull****/straight to the point tip/tricks…etc
having to trawl through all the pages of ppl chatting & just posting tracks is a waste of time and a distraction of the point…!

totally agree! 
that’s a good idea. I’ve stopped paying attention to those threads tbh as it’s more tracks and chat than actual production tips/information.
Personally i think this is to blame for why the tutorials never hit the nail on the head…! The tutorial request posts literally become a game of ‘top trumps’ of tunes…! I’am not sayn the tutorials aren’t good (before anyone jumps to conclusions),i just feel they always miss a few key elements,mayb thats down to my personal taste,but the posts just become a wash with unnecessary ****e…!
Mayb there needs to be a Techno only forum/tutorials so the other members paying aren’t being left out…
Personally I think it’s very hard to do a tut on modern techno - simply because good techno is forever evolving into some thing new
It’s been said before and will no doubt be said again - the tuts here or else where are only building blocks - the rest is up too you - even more so in techno
But to answer the openers question
I don;t use anything special - mostly live instruments - some of HG Electronics VSTs [url]hgf-synthesizer.de at the moment
I don’t use presets and very rarely use sample packs and if I do you would never recognise them
A few effect plugins
But the most important thing I use is my brain and imagination with hours of experimentation
So in a nutshell it’s not what you use its how you use it

That’s forums for you dude!
My main weapons of choice are the machinedrum and my sound recorder. I seem to be using synths as little as possible at the moment
